DESCRIPTION: WW - Omega Speedmaster Professional Chronograph, Pre-Moon, ref 145.012-67, manual wind, 42mm x 48mm to lug tips, 20mm lug width, original stainless steel screw back case, original black DON tachymeter bezel, stainless steel Omega 1171 bracelet, original black step dial with applied Omega logo and luminous painted indices, three inset subregisters for minute recording, hour recording and subsidiary seconds, 17J, cal 321, s#25007113, triple signed. Includes a period presentation box. The Omega Speedmaster was chosen by NASA in 1965 after outperforming numerous other contenders in rigorous testing. They were first issued during the Gemini program using the older straight lug style 105.002. More Speedmasters were thereafter purchased, and starting with the Apollo program, astronauts were being issued the "Professional" marked 105.012's in a beefier case with crown and pusher protectors as seen here. They remain flight qualified by NASA to this day and accompany astronauts to the ISS regularly. Modern interpretations of this watch are still in production.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, chronograph functions and resets properly, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, light oxide to steelwork; nearly flawless dial with hardly any surface spotting; fine-plus hands with evenly faded tritium; unpolished case shows light wear, large flat dings/scrape on the tips of all four lugs, light dings on the case back from improper use of a case wrench, rounded beveled edge of bezel has been curled over obscuring the outer edge of the black tachymeter bezel and creating a lightly sharp edge to inner surface; original Omega signed flat foot crown shows hardly any wear; good Omega plastic crystal.
